KODAK Single Vision Aspheric PolyClear™ Lens
Product Specifications & Processing Information

Purpose: The following information will assist you in processing the new Signet Armorlite KODAK Single Vision Aspheric Lenses in PolyClear.

Special Note: This product will replace the current KODAK Single Vision Aspheric Lens in polycarbonate. The affected OPCs are:

0103542106, 0103542114, 0103542122, 0103542130, 0103542148, 0103542155, 0103542163, 0103542171, 0103542189.

General:
Processing of the KODAK Single Vision Aspheric PolyClear Lens is similar to that of standard resin with a few exceptions. Generator and edger wheels designed for polycarbonate material and two-step fining pads designed for polycarbonate must be used.

Calculating an Rx:

The easiest, most efficient method to calculate and process values for an Rx is to use an existing computer software package that contains the KODAK Single Vision Aspheric PolyClear Lens design data. If your software company has not included our data in its package, our Technical Services group will be happy to provide the necessary specifications. Please forward us the contact name and phone number of your software vendor. If you need a software system for processing lenses, Signet Armorlite has developed a computer program to calculate surfacing data. This program is available through Signet Armorlite's Technical Services Department.

Special Procedures For Aspheric Lens Processing:

Selecting the proper base curve:

The KODAK Single Vision PolyClear Lens is designed as an aspheric product. The base curve selection range will differ from that of a spherical lens. (See the attached base curve selection chart.)

Generator:

Because the front surface of the lens is not spherical, a sag gage should not be used to approximate curvatures.

Surfacing Layout

Surfacing should be done in reference to the center of the blank. For the best optics, aspheric lenses must be fit like a progressive lens, using monocular pupil distances and vertical fitting positions.

AR Coating:

Multi-layer AR coatings can be applied to KODAK Single Vision Aspheric PolyClear Lenses. Be sure that your AR coating is compatible with your backside coating. Be sure to verify this lens meets impact resistance requirements after AR coating. Please call Technical Services at 800-759-0075 for additional information about coatings and impact resistance.

Tinting:

Neither polycarbonate material nor the front surface coating used on this lens will absorb tint, so a tintable backside coating must be applied. Conventional hard resin tints are acceptable. Neutralize by using only products designed for polycarbonate. Standard neutralizers will damage the lens.
